Community Involvement
We feel blessed to be able to help our clients through a difficult time in their lives through our legal services. In addition to helping in a professional capacity, we actively serve our local community.
Serving our local community is a passion of ours here at The Law Office of Young, Kuhl & Frick, LLC. Not only are we passionate about helping those in need but our team is actively involved with a variety of organizations and nonprofits that have a direct impact on our local youth and families, military personnel, and victims of domestic violence. Learn all about our community involvement below.
Association of Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City
We’re proud to be members of the Association of Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City (AWL), alongside nearly 600 judges and other lawyers across the Greater Kansas City Area. AWL is committed to helping women thrive in the law by offering education and networking opportunities among many other things. We support the AWL’s annual “I’m Not Serious About Golf” tournament each year that raises money to assist local women and girls in the Greater Kansas City Area.
Eastern Jackson County Bar Association
We’re also members of the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association which provides ongoing legal education events as well as networking events for local lawyers. The Eastern Jackson County Bar Association provides a number of Continuing Legal Education opportunities that we actively participate in by either regularly attending or even presenting for the organization. We also enjoy the annual Steak Fry, Holiday gathering, and their annual golf tournament.
Empowering Parents
Since family law is our firm’s focus, we’re passionate about regularly supporting Empowering Parents Kansas City (EPKC). EPKC is a local nonprofit organization that offers family therapy, counseling, parent aide, and mentoring services in and around Jackson County while relieving the financial burdens that some families can experience in a family law matter. Their sliding fee scale determines the cost of services based on clients’ income.
Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation’s Military Matters
The Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation’s (KCMBF) Military Matters program is something we are passionate about. Our military women and men have selflessly served our country and deserve excellent legal representation whether they can afford it or not. Military Matters provides service members and veterans in our local community with pro bono legal services. Each year we take on some pro bono cases through the Military Matters program to ensure we’re supporting our local service members and veterans.
Legal Aid of Western Missouri’s Volunteer Attorney Project
Legal Aid of Western Missouri is a wonderful organization that provides civil legal aid for those who don’t have the means to afford it. No Missourian should be denied rights due to their financial status and Legal Aid goes above and beyond to ensure that the client is represented by an attorney at no cost to the client.
The Law Office of Young, Kuhl & Frick, LLC takes part in Legal Aid of Western Missouri’s Volunteer Attorney Project, a program that involves attorneys taking on pro bono civil cases. The Volunteer Attorney Project has impacted us greatly and we’ve been fortunate enough to assist victims of domestic violence by providing them with the legal representation and help they deserve, as well as serving as mentors for newer attorneys who also volunteer.
Missouri Bar & The Supreme Court of Missouri
We’ve served on several committees at the request of the Missouri Bar and the Supreme Court of Missouri. One of these committees included the Missouri Supreme Court’s Pro Se Commission which made sure that all Missourians have equal access to the Court and thereby to justice. The committee we served on helped create pro se forms that are available on the Supreme Court of Missouri’s website to allow individuals to prepare and file their own family law pleadings without having to incur legal fees.
The Robert and Edith Young Family Foundation
Created by our Founder’s (James H. Young) family, The Robert and Edith Young Family Foundation annually contributes to many local and national charities. These charities include Children’s Mercy Kansas City, The Children’s Place, Show-Me Christian Youth Home, and Kansas & Western Missouri Salvation Army among others.
Athletics
In addition to the organizations listed above, we’re major sports fans and love supporting local athletic programs. Learn about some of the athletic programs and youth sports programs we regularly support.
KC NWSL Women’s Soccer
During soccer season you can find us at Legends Field cheering on KC NWSL! The fact that Kansas City has an NWSL team is very exciting and we love to support local women in our community, including those who are amazing soccer players.
University of Missouri Kansas City
We’re huge UMKC fans at The Law Office of Young, Kuhl & Frick, LLC! You can catch us at most home games—especially men’s and women’s basketball and soccer—cheering on our Roos. We’re season ticket holders for all UMKC sports and enjoy cheering on the only Division 1 team in Kansas City.
Youth Sports
As you already know, we’re sports enthusiasts and love every opportunity we can to support our local sports teams, especially youth sports. The Greater Kansas City Area has some wonderful youth sports organizations that we’re involved with. We’ve assisted with coaching both Lee’s Summit Girls Softball and Sporting Lee’s Summit Leagues.
